Bangladesh has added five new Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED)-certified readymade garment (RMG) factories, bringing the country’s total to 280 and further strengthening its position as a global leader in green garment manufacturing.

With this latest achievement, Bangladesh now has 118 Platinum-rated and 143 Gold-rated factories. Additionally, 52 Bangladeshi factories are ranked among the top 100 LEED-certified facilities worldwide, highlighting the country’s strong commitment to sustainability.

The newly certified factories include Epic Garments Manufacturing Co Ltd Unit-7 in Narayanganj, Surma Garments Ltd in Dhaka, NAFA Apparels Ltd Unit-2 in Dhamrai, Winter Dress Limited in Savar, and Meher Garments Limited in Chattogram.

Among them, Winter Dress Limited and Meher Garments Limited achieved Platinum certification, while the remaining factories secured Gold certification under various LEED v4 and v4.1 standards.

Industry experts say this achievement reflects Bangladesh’s continued progress in adopting energy-efficient technologies, reducing carbon emissions, conserving water, and improving workplace standards. These efforts are helping ensure sustainable growth and strengthen the country’s competitiveness in the global apparel market.
