China (Hong Kong)-Based Firm Invests $30.5m in Bangladesh Hydroponics Manufacturing

Bangladesh is set to enter the global market of greenhouse hydroponics tents as a new foreign direct investment (FDI) project worth US$30.5 million has been announced at the BEPZA Economic Zone.

China (Hong Kong)-based company Green Pure Houseware (BD) Co., Ltd. has signed a land lease agreement with the Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA) to establish a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in the zone.

The factory will produce specialized portable greenhouse hydroponics tents designed for soil-less plant cultivation. The initiative marks a significant step toward non-traditional, high-value export diversification for Bangladesh’s manufacturing sector.

In addition to hydroponic tents, the company will manufacture EVA cabinet mats, cartons, and PE packaging films targeting major international markets, including the USA, Europe, the UK, Canada, and Japan.

The project is expected to generate employment opportunities for approximately 3,000 Bangladeshi nationals, contributing to industrial growth and economic development.

Industry insiders view the investment as a strategic move to position Bangladesh as a competitive player in the global agri-tech and controlled-environment agriculture supply chain.
