Hyosung Invests $1 Billion in Bio-Based Textile Innovation for Denim Industry

Hyosung TNC has introduced a new sugarcane-based regen™ BIO elastane at Kingpins Amsterdam, aiming to reduce reliance on fossil-based materials in denim production. The fiber is partly made from renewable feedstocks and is designed to deliver the same performance as conventional spandex while lowering carbon emissions.

The company also announced a $1 billion investment to build a fully integrated bio-based production system, covering the entire process from sugarcane feedstock to finished fiber. This move supports global brands seeking scalable, low-carbon alternatives without compromising stretch and durability.

Alongside bio-based elastane, Hyosung is showcasing 100% recycled elastane and low-stretch fibers to improve recyclability. The initiative reflects a broader industry shift toward circular and sustainable denim solutions.
