Major manufacturers, including BSRM Group, report receiving significantly less fuel than required, forcing them to scale back operations. Heavy industries such as shipbreaking and steel production are among the hardest hit.
The ready-made garment sector is also under pressure, as limited diesel supply and increased load shedding hinder factory operations and delay shipments.
Industry leaders warn that prolonged fuel shortages could raise costs further and impact Bangladesh’s competitiveness in global markets.
Authorities, including Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation, deny any supply crisis, attributing the situation to panic buying and distribution pressure. However, businesses fear continued disruption if supply does not stabilise soon.
