Bangladesh has strengthened its position in the United States apparel market, surpassing China in garment exports during January–February 2026, according to data released by the Office of Textiles and Apparel (OTEXA).
During the period, Vietnam emerged as the leading apparel exporter to the US, followed by Bangladesh in second place, while China dropped to third amid the impact of US reciprocal tariffs.
Bangladesh exported garments worth $1.37 billion, marking an 8.53% decline compared to the same period last year. In contrast, Vietnam recorded exports of $2.7 billion, reflecting a 2.88% year-on-year growth.
China experienced a significant downturn, with exports falling to $1.17 billion — a sharp 57.65% decrease from the previous year.
Overall, US apparel imports stood at $11.53 billion during the period, representing a 13.47% decline year-on-year.
The latest data highlights a shifting global sourcing landscape, with Bangladesh maintaining resilience despite a slight contraction, while China faces substantial setbacks.
