HSBC Bangladesh has launched the 2026 edition of its flagship Export Excellence Awards, recognising exporters that are contributing to Bangladesh’s sustainable economic growth and strengthening the country’s position in global markets.
The announcement was made at a press conference held at Pan Pacific Sonargaon Dhaka. The awards will recognise outstanding exporters under four categories, with eligibility based on annual export revenue.
For the ready-made garment (RMG) sector, companies must have annual exports of at least $100 million. The threshold is $50 million for RMG backward linkage industries, $10 million for non-traditional and emerging manufacturing, and $5 million for services.
Exporters can nominate themselves for the “Exporter of the Year” title. The nomination deadline is September 20, 2026.
The Ministry of Commerce and the British High Commission in Dhaka are programme partners, while Ernst & Young (EY) is serving as the technical partner for the audit process.
A jury board comprising senior representatives from HSBC, the Ministry of Commerce and the British High Commission will evaluate nominees based on their export performance, sustainability, diversity, responsibility and corporate governance.
Speaking at the event, Md Mahbub ur Rahman, CEO of HSBC Bangladesh, said the awards would recognise enterprises that are redefining Bangladesh’s presence in international markets.
At a session with previous Export Excellence Award winners, Ahsan Khan Chowdhury, chairman of PRAN-RFL Group, highlighted the importance of value addition, branding and international expansion for Bangladeshi companies seeking to build globally recognised brands.
Enayetur Rahman, president of Ulkasemi, identified data security, internet connectivity and reliable power supply as key challenges for Bangladesh’s technology sector. He also emphasised stronger education in mathematics, science, problem-solving and semiconductor-related fields.
Meanwhile, Asif Ashraf, CEO of Urmi Group, stressed the importance of dependable power and energy infrastructure for industrial growth. He noted that Bangladesh has developed a strong industrial ecosystem over the past four to five decades.
HSBC Bangladesh has been organising the Export Excellence Awards since 2010, recognising enterprises and entrepreneurs for their contribution to Bangladesh’s economic development.
