Bangladesh’s readymade garment exports to the United States increased by over 15% year-on-year to $7.08 billion during January–October, according to US Department of Commerce data. Exporters said the growth was mainly driven by early shipments ahead of higher US tariffs, which encouraged American buyers to place bulk orders earlier than usual. The US apparel market remained mostly flat during the period, while most major exporters saw moderate growth. However, industry leaders noted that export momentum slowed after August when higher tariffs took effect. Despite this, improving US retail sales and expected political stability in Bangladesh may help stabilise future orders.
