ITET Delegation Meets Titas Gas MD, Urges Immediate Increase in Gas Pressure for Industries

A delegation of The Institution of Textile Engineers and Technologists (ITET) Bangladesh met with the Managing Director of Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company Limited on Monday, September 14, 2026, to discuss the ongoing gas crisis, low gas pressure and its severe impact on the country’s textile and industrial sectors.

Led by ITET Bangladesh President Engineer Md. Enayet Hossain, the delegation highlighted the current situation faced by textile and other industrial units across the country. The delegation noted that inadequate gas pressure is severely disrupting production, increasing manufacturing costs and putting many industrial establishments at risk of partial or complete shutdown.

The ITET delegation strongly urged Titas Gas authorities to take immediate and effective measures to raise gas pressure in the industrial sector, particularly for textile manufacturing units, to the required level. They also called for urgent intervention and practical initiatives to address the ongoing crisis.

The delegation emphasized that prolonged gas shortages could have serious consequences not only for industrial production and exports but also for employment, workers’ livelihoods, investment, foreign exchange earnings and the broader industrial economy. Continued disruptions and potential factory closures could create significant social and economic challenges.

Senior Vice President Engineer Sumayel Mohammad Mallik, former Secretary General Engineer A.K.M. Mohsin Ahmed, Vice President Engineer Mia Md. Mainul Islam Palash, Joint Secretary General Engineer Rezaul Karim Reza, Treasurer Engineer Zahidur Rahman (Anis), Organizing Secretary Engineer Md. Moidul Islam (Moid), Publicity and Publication Secretary Engineer Chandra Shekhar Das, Social Welfare Secretary Engineer Md. Arfan Ali Pramanik, Office Secretary Engineer Farukul Islam Jony, Executive Members Engineer Shariful Amin and Engineer Md. Saidur Rahman (Robin), and Engineer Russell Ahmed, among other ITET leaders, attended the meeting.

ITET called on the Titas Gas management to take urgent and effective steps to ensure uninterrupted and adequate gas supply and rapidly improve gas pressure in the industrial sector in the interest of the country’s industries and economy.

The Managing Director of Titas Gas listened to the delegation’s concerns and assured them that necessary measures would be taken to address the prevailing situation.
