German AMANN Group Plans New Investment and Factory Expansion in Bangladesh

Germany-based industrial sewing and embroidery thread manufacturer AMANN Group has announced plans to expand its factory operations and make fresh investments in Bangladesh, highlighting growing international confidence in the country’s readymade garment (RMG) and textile sector.

The announcement came during a bilateral meeting held at the BGMEA Complex in Uttara between BGMEA President Mahmud Hasan Khan and a delegation from AMANN Group led by Chief Executive Officer Markus Nicolaus.

According to a press release issued on 23 May, the discussion focused on Bangladesh’s apparel manufacturing capacity, evolving global market conditions, investment opportunities, and future business collaboration strategies. BGMEA Director Md Hasib Uddin was also present at the meeting.Speaking at the meeting, Mahmud Hasan Khan said Bangladesh’s apparel industry is gradually recovering from the export slowdown experienced earlier this year due to global economic uncertainty.

He noted that the country’s garment sector is currently undergoing a major transformation with increased emphasis on product diversification and value-added apparel manufacturing.

“Bangladesh is not only aiming to increase export volume but also focusing on producing higher-value garments for the global market,” he said.

The BGMEA president also emphasized that AMANN Group could play a strategic role in Bangladesh beyond supplying industrial threads by supporting innovation, premium product development, and stronger international market connections.

He further requested the German company to promote Bangladesh’s transformed apparel manufacturing capabilities among leading German fashion brands that are yet to source from the country.

During the meeting, AMANN Group CEO Markus Nicolaus expressed optimism about the future potential of Bangladesh’s apparel and textile industry.

“We are closely observing which sectors in Bangladesh can attract new investments. There are significant opportunities, especially in the high-tech textile sector,” he said.

Nicolaus added that the company aims to strengthen its presence in the premium apparel segment and support high-end international brands through advanced textile solutions.

The AMANN delegation also discussed several key industry issues, including global and local business risks, labour standards, US tariff policies, international trade challenges, and Bangladesh’s port, energy, and logistics infrastructure.AMANN Group currently operates in Bangladesh through AMANN Bangladesh Ltd..

The latest expansion initiative is seen as a positive signal for Bangladesh’s textile and apparel sector, particularly at a time when the industry is focusing on modernization, sustainability, and higher-value manufacturing to remain competitive in the global market.
