The Bangladesh Garment Buying House Association (BGBA) has announced the formation of 66 Standing Committees for the 2026–2028 term, reinforcing its commitment to strengthening institutional capacity and supporting the sustainable growth of Bangladesh’s garment buying house industry.
The announcement was made during the Standing Committee Introductory Meeting held at the UCB Lounge of Uttara Club in Dhaka on 5 July. The meeting was chaired by BGBA President Md. According to BGBA, the establishment of the committees represents a significant milestone in the association’s efforts to address emerging opportunities and challenges facing Bangladesh’s garment buying house sector while enhancing its organisational effectiveness.
The committees have been constituted following a comprehensive assessment of the association’s strategic priorities and members’ requirements. BGBA said each committee comprises experienced industry professionals selected for their expertise, enabling them to provide practical recommendations, policy guidance and innovative solutions within their respective areas.
Focus on Industry Development and Competitiveness
The Standing Committees will oversee a wide range of strategic and operational functions, including policy advocacy, trade facilitation, compliance, arbitration, member services, capacity building, sustainability, international relations, digital transformation, investment promotion and other initiatives aimed at strengthening the competitiveness of Bangladesh’s garment buying house industry and the country’s ready-made garment (RMG) export sector.
Addressing the gathering, BGBA President Md. Abdul Hamid highlighted the importance of teamwork and active member participation in achieving the association’s long-term objectives.
He said the formation of the committees reflects BGBA’s vision of building a stronger, more dynamic and member-driven organisation capable of addressing industry challenges through professionalism, collaboration and shared responsibility.
Former President and Chief Advisor Mohammad Pabel encouraged committee members to carry out their responsibilities with integrity, dedication and unity, noting that the association’s continued success depends on the collective efforts of its members. He expressed confidence that the newly formed committees would play a vital role in advancing the interests of Bangladesh’s garment buying house industry.
Commitment to Sustainable Industry Growth
BGBA reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening collaboration with government agencies, international buyers, development partners and industry stakeholders to promote a transparent, sustainable and globally competitive buying house sector.
The association said it expects the Standing Committees to make significant contributions to policy development, industry problem-solving and long-term strategic initiatives that will support the continued growth and global competitiveness of Bangladesh’s apparel export industry.
