Bangladesh Seeks Turkish Investment in RMG, Textile and Jute Sectors

Bangladesh and Türkiye have expressed strong interest in expanding bilateral trade, boosting investment flows and deepening overall economic cooperation following a high-level meeting in Dhaka.

Turkish Ambassador Ramis Sen met Commerce Minister Khandaker Abdul Muktadir at the Secretariat, where both sides explored new avenues to strengthen partnership across key sectors.

During the meeting, the commerce minister highlighted the longstanding friendly relations between the two countries and emphasised opportunities for joint ventures in priority industries, including ready-made garments (RMG), textiles, agro-based industries and light engineering.

He also invited Turkish investors to explore Bangladesh’s leather and jute sectors, citing competitive production costs and growing global demand for sustainable materials.

The Turkish ambassador praised Bangladesh’s steady economic growth and its skilled workforce, identifying them as key drivers for attracting foreign investment. He also noted the increasing popularity of eco-friendly jute products in Türkiye, reflecting rising demand for sustainable alternatives.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening economic ties, with a focus on trade diversification, industrial collaboration and long-term investment partnerships.
