Slovakia Advances Biomethane Push with New EnviTec Biogas Plant

EnviTec Biogas has launched a 417 Nm³/h EnviThan gas upgrading plant in Slovakia, marking its second biomethane project in the country.

The facility in Oždany, operated by CITA VIA s.r.o., upgrades biogas into advanced biomethane, with current input of 750 Nm³/h and long-term expansion planned up to 1,300 Nm³/h. The plant uses agricultural waste including cattle manure and poultry dung, with future plans to shift fully toward waste-based feedstock.

The project supports Slovakia’s renewable energy transition, backed by €103 million in EU funding, with biomethane expected to play a key role in decarbonising the energy sector. The Czech Republic is also expanding biomethane capacity as part of regional clean energy goals.
