The BUTEX Science Club successfully organized the inter-departmental championship “TEXTITANS 2026” at the Bangladesh University of Textiles campus on Friday, April 17, bringing together students from all 11 departments in a dynamic display of innovation, knowledge, and teamwork.
The competition featured three segments—Poster Presentation, Quiz, and Treasure Hunt—designed to test participants’ analytical ability, research skills, and problem-solving capacity. The event commenced at 3:00 PM with the quiz round, followed by the poster exhibition and treasure hunt at 4:00 PM.
In the Poster Presentation category, “Ratzillas” from the Department of Fabric Engineering secured the championship, while “To Dye For” from the Department of Fabric Engineering and “Trio” from the Department of Wet Process Engineering claimed the first and second runner-up positions respectively. In the Quiz segment, “Fabric Express” from the Department of Fabric Engineering emerged as champion, with “Two Ply Titans” from the Department of Apparel Engineering and “Team Tzar Empire” from the Department of Environmental Science & Engineering taking the runner-up spots. In the Treasure Hunt segment, “Terra Incognita” from the Department of Wet Process Engineering clinched the title, followed by “The Decode Divas” from the Department of Environmental Science & Engineering and “RTR Boys” from the Department of Wet Process Engineering as the first and second runners-up respectively.
Based on cumulative performance across all segments, the Department of Fabric Engineering was crowned the Grand Champion of TEXTITANS 2026.The poster presentations were evaluated by Dr. Lamia Zahir and Sheikh Mohammad Rafi, ensuring academic rigor and constructive assessment.
The closing and prize distribution ceremony was held at 7:30 PM, with the Vice-Chancellor of BUTEX, Md. Julhas Uddin, attending as the chief guest. He praised the originality and research-driven approach of the participants, emphasizing the importance of such platforms in encouraging innovation beyond academic curricula and advancing sustainable textile technologies.
As the special guest, Md. Mashiur Rahman Khan highlighted the event’s role in fostering practical learning and strengthening student–teacher engagement through healthy competition and guided evaluation.
Speaking on behalf of the organizing body, President Tasmiya Binte Faizur noted that participation from all departments significantly enhanced the competitive spirit of the event while showcasing students’ strengths in communication, critical thinking, and research. General Secretary Piyas Kumar Sarkar added that the collaborative efforts of students from batches 47–50 ensured the successful execution of the program, making it both engaging and impactful.
TEXTITANS 2026 stands as a testament to BUTEX’s commitment to nurturing innovation, interdisciplinary collaboration, and future-ready textile professionals.
