CP Five Star and Ecovia Partner to Advance Sustainable Food Packaging Innovation in Bangladesh

CP Five Star Bangladesh has partnered with environmentally friendly packaging manufacturer Ecovia to develop sustainable food packaging solutions, reinforcing its commitment to responsible business practices and environmental sustainability.

The collaboration will initially focus on introducing compostable technology into selected plastic packaging used in CP Five Star’s food operations, beginning with U-cut bags for its fried chicken franchise. The initiative aims to provide environmentally responsible packaging alternatives while maintaining food safety, product quality, and consumer convenience.

A formal cooperation agreement was recently signed by senior executives of both organizations, marking the beginning of a strategic partnership between the food service and sustainable packaging sectors.

Speaking on the initiative, Surachai Ratanasuwan, Vice President of CP Bangladesh Co., Ltd., said packaging plays a critical role not only in ensuring food quality and safety but also in reducing environmental impact. He noted that the collaboration represents an important step toward integrating more sustainable packaging solutions into the company’s operations while offering consumers a more responsible choice.

Riasat Zaman, Co-founder and Chief Technology Officer of Ecovia, said the company is committed to developing packaging innovations that combine practical business applications with environmental sustainability. He added that the partnership will help bring compostable technology into food packaging solutions that meet industry requirements for quality, safety, and operational efficiency.

The companies said the new packaging solutions have been designed specifically for CP Five Star’s food service operations, with an emphasis on food-grade quality, product protection, operational performance, and environmental responsibility.

The initiative also supports the principles of the circular economy by encouraging more efficient resource use and promoting innovations that reduce long-term environmental impact.

Beyond sustainability, the partnership aims to establish new benchmarks for food-grade packaging in Bangladesh by aligning innovation with internationally accepted food packaging standards. The companies believe the collaboration will contribute to the country’s transition toward a more sustainable and environmentally responsible food service ecosystem.

CP Five Star and Ecovia described the partnership as a practical demonstration of how innovation can create long-term value for businesses, consumers, and the environment while advancing sustainable development in Bangladesh.
